What I’m Adding To My Wardrobe This Spring

As much as I’ve had fun dressing for winter, I’m ready for spring. I’ve learned a lot about how I want to feel when I get dressed overall and had fun styling layers and sweaters, but it’s time to lighten up.

Spring lasts for like 3-5 weeks where I live, so I don’t want to invest too much into transitional pieces. I love the idea of a trench coat, but I know I will probably get a single wear out of it before early summer, making it not worth the investment. I build my wardrobe in a functional way I need to choose pieces that will work in the summer too, or at least the early part of summer.

I don’t have exact pieces chosen yet, but based on what I’ve been pinning, these are the things I need to add to my closet to have a spring wardrobe that excites me.

spring trousers outfits

Trousers

I keep saying that I need more trousers, so I should probably start looking for some. I need to get a white/ivory/cream pair at the very least. I also need black because it’s classic and I want navy too. Why not throw a green in there for some fun?

I’m eyeing these from Aritiza, but I’m still searching for some that are cotton or at least a cotton blend.

spring statement tops

Statement Tops

Statement top might be the wrong word, but I want more interesting tops, particularly around the neck and chest. I want something nice to look at for video calls for work and something to make my YouTube videos look nicer. Plus, I like how interesting necklines can make an otherwise basic outfit pop.

Fitted Long-sleeved Tops

In the springtime, sometimes a sweater is too much but a short-sleeved tee isn’t enough to keep you warm. I need some long-sleeved tops to fill in the gaps. They can be basic or have something interesting going on, but a long sleeve is mainly what I’m looking for.

pointed toe shoes outfits

Pointed Toe Shoes

I love how pointed-toe shoes make my feet look. It’s not quite time to have the toes out, but I also might not want my feet to be encased in leather boots every day. Plus, pointed-toe shoes make me look taller. I’m 5’5” so I’m down for anything that can make me look 5’10” and like I have legs for days.

handbag wishlist

Handbags

This might be the category that I don’t expand this season. A handbag isn’t required for my outfit most days since I work from home, but I also don’t want to neglect this. I’m building a wardrobe that’s suited to my life and my life includes leaving the house on occasion. I don’t want my outfit choices for these occasions to continue to be hindered by a lack of handbag options.

I have a medium black bag and wouldn’t mind getting a smaller one that’s still big enough to carry my phone. I’d also like a top handle brown bag, a medium-sized raffia bag, and a green top handle. I’m actively looking for these, but instead of buying them new I’d really like to scoop them up secondhand.

wide leg jeans outfits

Wide Leg Jeans

I finally tried a straight leg jean last year and I think I’m ready to go wider. I’ll eventually make my way to Nordstrom, Madewell, Abercrombie, or anywhere I can find a wash I like to see if I will wear them. I know I’m going to end up seeing my tailor to make them look perfect so the wash is really what I’m after.

gold jewelry

Gold Jewelry

All of my necklaces and all of my earrings except two pairs are gold plated. Guess which ones look the best? I like my gold plated jewelry, but I want pieces that I don’t have to worry about getting wet or tarnishing. Not that I won’t still scoop up something gold plated—they are much lighter after all—but I don’t want to keep replacing something basic that I wear all the time like plain hoops or a chain necklace. I want some heirloom jewelry that will still look great years from now.

I still might do the boring and expected thing for spring dressing…get a white button-down. I have a white oversized linen button-down, but I wouldn’t mind one that’s more fitted. There’s something so chic about a crisp white shirt and I finally have some bluing liquid to help them stay bright white.

I’m getting very good at adding pieces to my Indyx Closet as soon as I decide I’m buying them. If you want to see how I’m styling my pieces, both new and old, even before I wear them you should take a peek. This app is how I know exactly what I want to add to my wardrobe to get the most out of it. (You won’t see my outfits in the browser. You have to download the app for that.)
