As much as I hemmed and hawed about buying this sheer maxi dress, I have now developed a full-blown obsession with sheer details on maxi dresses for the summer. It’s like being naked to beat the heat without actually being naked. I have a few on my radar and can’t possibly justify buying all of them, but I want to talk about them with somebody so I choose you!
Summer Dress Edit: Sheer Maxis
This one is my favorite because of the price. I’d style it exactly how it is in the picture and wear it to summer parties or Saturday brunch at a trendy spot. It comes in a very light pink shade too, but I have an affinity for black.

Sheer Rib-knit Bodycon Dress
I love how casual this dress is. Nothing says summer more than a boho maxi dress and this one delivers. It’s entirely sheer so you could style this with a slip under it to make it more modest, but I’d probably style it with a white body suit and sandals. I’d let the dress be the statement maker that it is.

Angel Wings Maxi Dress
This dress reminds me of the Kate Moss x Topshop white fringe maxi dress. I’m still sad I didn’t know about that collaboration until it was too late. Nor did I have money to buy that dress so this is the next best thing. It also comes in black which is the color I’d probably choose. This red is gorgeous, but it’s a statement maker. I’d rather let my bag do the talking with this dress.
COS
Pleated Racer-neck Maxi Dress
This is a great option if you don’t want a noticeably sheer effect. If you aren’t being backlit or wearing bright underwear the sheerness of this dress is less noticeable. It has a split in the back that makes the sheerness at the bottom a little more pronounced. I like the black one, but it also comes in off-white.

Dion Boucle Crew Maxi Dress
I love this one because it doesn’t lean into risqué territory. It comes with a slip dress under a completely sheer overdress so you get the sheer effect without showing any skin. You could wear this dress to work (depending on the environment) and you could easily wear it to daytime events. This is also currently available in peach and ivory and a very summery seersucker-inspired print.

Millie Dress
If you like the sheer trend, but don’t want it all over this is a cute option. It’s modest enough to wear to church, work, the kid’s school, and any graduation parties. I really like the color so this is on my radar for when semi-naked attire won’t do.
PETAL + PUP
Julip Sheer Long Sleeve Maxi Dress
I love this one for date night. The tan will go with a lot of colors and gold accessories will make it pop. I’d pair it with a colored bag to make it more interesting. It comes in black, but I’d get it in tan.
